Hello you!👋💜
I hope you're doing well. Today, I bring you a review of one of my favorite series of 2022 - Fleabag!💘
And, if we think about it, it's even a bit uncomfortable to watch the development of some situations, but because, in my opinion, we can relate; it's a 😱shameful identification because we know very well that in real life, we shouldn't do some of the things the characters have no fear of saying and doing, or even more questionable, feeling🙇.
It's a British television series🎬 created by and starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge💁. The series premiered in 2016 and consists of two seasons, totaling 12 episodes. The episodes are short, so you'll breeze through the series in just a couple of hours!🕒
The plot follows the life of a London woman in her thirties who owns a cafe☕ with endless debts and continually grapples with people throughout the series. Naturally, we find ourselves navigating the complexities of her personal and professional life.
But if we delve deeper, why should you really watch Fleabag?👀
Brilliant Writing📝: One of the most outstanding aspects of the series is Phoebe Waller-Bridge's witty and sharp script💬 (she's an excellent actress, by the way). The series tackles themes like loneliness, loss, love, sex, and family with a humorous and often irreverent approach. Waller-Bridge is known for her unique style and her ability to seamlessly blend comedy and drama. In my opinion, she portrays situations that happen to her - and probably to us - in a very human and raw way😖. The ambivalence and contrast of feelings within each character are notable, reflecting without a doubt the emotions people experience in their daily lives through well-thought-out and compelling scripts.
Outstanding Performances🎭: The cast of the series is excellent, with Phoebe in the lead role, and I must mention that her portrayal of Fleabag earned her critical acclaim👏 and praise. The supporting cast is also incredibly good, including Olivia Colman, Sian Clifford, and Andrew Scott, who shine in their respective roles.
From my point of view, all the characters stand out for their uniqueness, and the actors have portrayed each character exceptionally well👌. (Spoiler alert: the relationship and AMAZING SCRIPT between Fleabag and the priest, please, it's heartbreaking💔 and beautiful.)
Authentic Narrative💅: "Fleabag" stands out for its authentic and sincere narrative. The protagonist breaks the fourth wall🔨 by speaking directly to the audience, creating a unique connection with the viewer, and this is what I liked most about the series, I must say! As the series progresses, it explores Fleabag's emotional complexities and her relationships, making her a deeply human and complex character😌. By communicating directly with us, it gives us a sense that what we are watching is real in time and space. We are often used to watching movies and series with a closed plot, but here, although the development is already set, the fact that they speak to you generates a kind of imaginary exchange that makes the series even more attractive😍.
Exploration of Relevant Themes💣: The series addresses contemporary and relevant themes such as the struggle of young women👩 in modern society, self-acceptance, the search for identity, loss of loved ones👫, blended families, and dysfunctional relationships. In this regard, the characters often undergo a deep exploration of certain themes that are not approached in the usual way. That is, when we are talking about topics with very clear perspectives of "what is right"✔ and "what is wrong,"✖ the plot leads you to dislike the characters for not making the best decisions.
Personal Highlights🙋: S2E1, is simply out of this world🌎. Everything happens during a dinner at a fancy restaurant, introducing a new character❔ and bringing all the problems to the table (almost literally), haha! It's the episode I liked the most!
I also must not forget to mention the series finale, which actually has the highest rating. It's undoubtedly a transformative episode and marks the end of an era and the beginning🔁 of a new life for the characters (the priest's speech is beautiful, raw, and extremely honest).
In summary, "Fleabag" is an exceptional series that combines 😂humor, emotion, and a sincere narrative to tell the story📃 of a complex woman and her struggles in modern life. The series showcases Phoebe Waller-Bridge's creative talent and has made a significant mark on contemporary television📺. If you're looking for an intelligent and moving series that will make you laugh and reflect, "Fleabag" is an excellent choice❗.
